Community

Improve the dialogue

Artistic projects work most successfully if there is a clear dialogue between residents, council, developers, businesses and other local groups. This is achieved through art that includes strong local research and conversations, and that allows the viewers to interact and respond.

Co-creation and co-design with communities should not be a passing fad, but the red thread that runs though powerful public art.

Research is key to all the work I do, with local workshops, visits and conversations supplemented by online calls, historic research and surveys.

Testing and evaluation is vital and included in every large project, to understand the impact of the intervention, and what lessons can be learnt for future plans.
